Yesterday marked the start of stage one of the CWL Pro League, drawn in division A against teams like TK and OpTic a thrilling few months are in store. The week got underway on Tuesday against Mindfreak, a team we have fared well against so far this season. Check out below how the map vetoes went:
Game one: Sainte Marie Du Mont Hardpoint
The team got off to a slow start in the restaurant hardpoint, this allowed Mindfreak to have the early lead. However due to some great slaying from Rated that saw him go on an 8 kill streak and start 16-6, the score was tied after the first full rotation of hardpoint, with Rated on full streaks we held the advantage. Throughout the game we used early rotations and strong set ups on the parking lot HP to gain a lot of points and it would be this hill that would allow us to close out the map, with Rated leading the way in slaying.
Score: 250-219 VICTORY, up 1-0
Game two: London Docks S&D
Game two started like game one with Mindfreak jumping out to an early lead, after we failed to close out a strong start to the round that saw us have a 2 man advantage. However after clutching up a 2v4 of our own we managed to secure 4 straight rounds and held a 4-1 lead. There was still work to do and a comeback from Mindfreak saw them get full streaks and a 5-4 lead. The team regained and forced a round 11 before Joee clutched a 1v2 to secure the map and put us firmly in control of the series.
Score: 6-5 VICTORY, up 2-0
Game three: London Docks CTF
As has become the norm on London Docks CTF smart play saw us leap out to an early lead, our first cap coming within 30 seconds and a second before a minute was up. With a 2-0 lead the match slowed down and the half looked destined to end 2-0, but a late Mindfreak cap set up an interesting second half that would turn out to be one of the best games of CTF ever seen. After another fast start we restored our 2 flag lead, but in a credit to Mindfreak they did not give up and after capping 2 flags forced overtime. In the first period of overtime Mindfreak managed to cap another flag, leaving us with 2:34 to cap a flag for the win.
Unfortunately a stalemate occurred and with both flags out the timer ticked down for our first map defeat of the pro league.
Score: 3-4 DEFEAT 2-1
Game four: Gibraltar Hardpoint
With the series now back in the balance it was vital that the team got off to a fast start, and they delivered as after the first set of full rotations we held a lead over Mindfreak. Some smart play from Rated gained us crucial spawn control during the second HP and with Joshh building up his killstreaks after getting 9 consecutive kills the lead quickly grew heading into the castle road hardpoint. Just like map one an early rotation to the final hardpoint allowed us to get a strong set up that ensured we closed out the map and the series. Joshh was very impressive as he ended with figures of 35-19.
TEAM RAZER PLAYER OF THE SERIES: Joshh
Call of Duty manager Joseph Hayter had this to say on our opening game of the pro league.
“It would have been nice to close it out 3-0, but one of the craziest CTF’s we’ve seen so far meant it ended 3-1. Mindfreak played us a lot closer than I think most people expected, good to start the league off with a win, just have to keep it going.”
Up next is a double header against fellow EU team Vitality and a grudge match against the team that defeated us twice at NOLA, Rise Nation as the team look to continue their strong start to the division. Make sure to catch all the action on the Call of Duty Twitch page.
